Maternal Health Care in Nepal: Trends and Determinants
Report
June 5, 2020
This analysis observed that, since 2011, there has been a substantial increase in the proportion of women with four antenatal care (ANC) visits and who gave birth via institutional delivery, but only a small increase in postnatal care (PNC) check-up. Better education, belonging to wealthier households, completion of four ANC visits, and birth preparedness were associated with institutional delivery. Residing in rural areas—despite having institutional delivery and receiving advice supporting a PNC check-up—was associated with a lower likelihood of seeking a PNC check-up.
