Abt evaluated the technical assistance offered to states by the Medicaid Innovation Accelerator Program (IAP), which helps state agencies plan, design, and implement Medicaid-focused delivery system reforms. The IAP experimented with various technical assistance delivery modes. As specific suggestions for program improvement emerged from the evaluation data, they were shared with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) staff in a rapid-cycle feedback process. CMS staff refined program elements based on the suggestions received. The final findings will help CMS understand the practices that led to the IAP’s successes, and suggest possible directions for future technical assistance program modifications.
