Expanding Our Impact
Abt aimed to reestablish agricultural development programs in South Sudan following the end of the nation’s civil war in 2005. For six straight years, we led USAID’s FARM I and II projects, which worked towards achieving food self-sufficiency, reducing poverty and promoting economic growth in South Sudan. Through training and market linkages, the FARM projects enabled local farmers to feed their families and communities, while creating economic opportunities through improved productivity and market systems. Abt has also helped improve service delivery for HIV/AIDS treatment in South Sudan, building the capacity of local health institutions in a fragile health system.
