Caroline G. Staub, Ph.D., is an analytical and strategic international development professional with 10-plus years leading programs in climate change adaptation and resilience, environmental science, natural resources management, sustainable agriculture, and food security. Her work tends to address finite, fragile, and/or remote geographical settings. She has extensive experience leading cross-functional, multi-cultural teams, trainees, and public/private partnerships in support of projects that incorporate critical thinking and capacity building to inform course corrections and ensure accountability and sustainability.
Dr. Staub’s work at Abt focuses on advancing effective climate adaptation mainstreaming, programming, and scaling across sectors to improve the resilience of people and systems. She currently leads efforts to integrate climate risk assessment and management in vector control planning and operations in over 20 countries in Africa. She is co-developing a strategy for partnering with the private sector to mobilize finance and actions that support the transition to an equitable, resilient, and net-zero economy globally.
Prior to joining Abt, Dr. Staub worked at the University of Florida Institute of Food & Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) for more than 10 years. As a research scientist on a $13.7 million USAID-funded food security project in Haiti, she developed, implemented, and evaluated a climate resilience strategy for the agricultural community. As a consultant for the World Bank Group, she analyzed climate-smart agriculture investment plans from 13 countries. She was also part of a team of experts developing a blueprint for digital climate information services for the Global Center on Adaptation.
Domestically, she has collaborated with scientists, engineers, and farmers in the southeast on the development of the first climate extension program for the agricultural community under a USDA-funded agricultural research and extension project.
