Gabriella Newes-Adeyi, Ph.D.

Senior Client Account Lead, Public Health

Bio

Dr. Gabriella Newes-Adeyi has more than 25 years of experience managing and implementing public health research projects that focus on disease epidemiology and surveillance, research-to-practice strategies, and health behavior change. A skilled manager, she has directed multiple large, complex multisite research projects. As a principal associate and client account lead for infectious diseases in Abt’s public health portfolio, Dr. Newes-Adeyi leverages all Abt’s capabilities to deliver solutions that match client priorities. She leads growth of new infectious disease work and ensures high-quality delivery of existing contracts.

Dr. Newes-Adeyi provides senior technical and corporate oversight to projects for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). One such project includes developing demographic and comorbidities data tables to support modeling for forecasting and outbreak response. She also assists CDC’s initiative to establish and maintain a multi-site nursing home public health response network. Other CDC initiatives include tracking post-COVID conditions; monitoring influenza and other vaccine uptake and related knowledge, attitudes and beliefs among pregnant persons and healthcare workers; and evaluating Ending the HIV Epidemic initiatives.

She has led studies for CDC to examine COVID-19 illness and vaccine effectiveness among pregnant persons, children, and essential workers. Data from these studies informed early and ongoing policymaking and guidance from CDC related to the pandemic. Dr. Newes-Adeyi has also directed studies for CDC on seasonal and pandemic influenza-related illness and complications in multiple settings, including in the U.S. and other countries, and has overseen Abt’s contract supporting CDC’s multisite National Birth Defects Prevention Study and its follow-on Birth Defects Study to Evaluate Pregnancy Exposures. She also previously was on the leadership team for the evaluation of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Oncology Care Model, an innovative payment method to encourage enhanced care coordination, appropriate oncology care, and patient access at reduced costs. She has also led projects for the Agency for Health Research Quality and the Health Resources and Services Administration.
