Chronic illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer—non-communicable diseases—account for a staggering 80 percent of premature deaths worldwide and impose huge economic burdens on patients and societies. To combat these ubiquitous, often fatal illnesses, Abt evaluates, implements and provides technical assistance to programs and advises on policies worldwide to help communities and individuals detect, manage, and prevent these illnesses.
