Data as a Catalyst for Public-Private Sector Engagement in Tanzania

Accredited Drug Dispensing Outlets (ADDOs) are often the first point of contact for rural and underserved populations in Tanzania. An unstructured supplementary service data (USSD) mobile reporting system enables ADDOs to report data to the District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS2).
SHOPS Plus supported the training of 674 ADDOs and the inclusion of family planning indicators in the USSD mobile reporting system. But the inclusion of ADDO data in DHIS2 is just the starting point for building a culture of data reporting and usage; it also encourages collaboration between the private and public sectors.
