Abt Team Chosen to Identify and Disseminate Effective Interventions for Low-Income Job Seekers
Rockville, Md. – Abt Global has been selected by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS’) Office of Planning, Research & Evaluation (OPRE) to operate the next generation of the Pathways to Work Evidence Clearinghouse, a site designed to help job seekers with low incomes succeed in the labor market.
Since its inception in 2018, the Pathways to Work Evidence Clearinghouse has given program providers, policymakers, and researchers access to a curated body of knowledge about interventions that improve employment outcomes, address employment challenges, and support self-sufficiency. Under this new contract, Abt will update evidence standards, expand the number of studies reviewed by the Clearinghouse, and develop new product lines to support job seekers and practitioners who support them. Along with our partners—the American Institutes for Research and Greene Street Communications—Abt will continuously improve the quality, speed, and insights from reviews of existing research.
“Improving outcomes for job seekers with low incomes remains a critical task for U.S. social policy,” notes Abt’s project director Allan Porowski. “Our work with OPRE is designed to build knowledge, connect that knowledge to practitioners, and help transform policy and practice using the best evidence available to us.”
This new award adds to Abt’s body of work on the federal government’s marquee evidence clearinghouses, including the HHS’ Title IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse, the U.S. Department of Education’s What Works Clearinghouse, and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Clearinghouse for Labor Evaluation and Research.
