Why Impact Investing Needs Philanthropy and Catalytic Capital
TRIPLE PUNDIT: Debra Schwartz of the MacArthur Foundation wrote this piece on the need for philanthropy to address social challenges ranging from racism to housing to climate change. Schwartz references several impact investing models designed to seed and scale programs for more resilient, just communities. Among those was our 2020 evaluation for MacArthur that found the foundation’s Windows of Opportunity Initiative preserved or created affordable rental properties and demonstrated the need for equity-like capital as part of the solution to the affordable housing crisis.
